The Headless Knight is one of the 2 potential bosses found in the Halloween biome.
Room
The room contains some blocks and crates near the middle and bottom left corner, a tainted tree in the top corner, and a poison crate in the bottom left corner.
Drops
- The boss chest may contain The Emperor's New Gun, the motif weapon of Headless Knight.
- The body may drop a Headless Knight Skin Fragment (if the player doesn't have 8 already), Fertilizer, and is the only source for the Red Spider Lily.
- The horse may drop Organic Matter.
Trivia
- This boss was added in Update 1.9.7.
- This is the second boss that comes with more than one unit excluding summons, following Baby Dragon Bros.
- However, unlike the Dragons, the Headless Knight can be easily defeated with a single attack from One Punch since it will instantly kill both of them while they are still a single unit. It is also possible with other weapons able to deal burst damage, like the Gatling Gun.
- If this happens, the horse will despawn, and will not drop anything. It will also not be registered in the cellar.
- This boss has a unique banner upon encounter, that contains his name and a line of "and His Horse" in smaller font size.
- In Update 2.7.0 the horse gained its own cellar entry while the Headless Knight's entry was updated.
- Since then, whenever it appears in Task Board, only the body is shown, such that it is not required to kill the horse (which may happen if it is killed before splitting.)
- Headless Knight is a reference to the Headless Horseman, a character popularized by Washington Irving's story "The Legend of Sleepy Hallow". The character is commonly associated with Halloween as a consequence.
- His sword may be a recolored version of the Grand Knight's sword.
- In the Twin Boss condition, if Necromancer's skill "Souls Resurrect" is used on the Headless Knight when the boss has been killed without the horse detaching while the other boss is alive, the player will be stuck in the room even if the other boss is later slain.
- When His Horse begins charging, it makes a neighing sound. This is accompanied by clopping sounds, despite the horse being a floating head, thus having no hooves to produce that.
- If it was affected by the Frozen/Stun, the sounds may stop and the horse will be disabled. However, it will remain invincible until the charging ends on its own.
