The Staff of Anubis is a Legendary Staff found in the game.
It is the motif weapon of Anubis.
Usage
Launches three tombstones in random locations. Tombstones turns minor enemies into Mummy (Handgun) or Frog. Does not work against bosses or any enemy already transformed once. The transforming ability ignores invincibility.
- Each tombstone covers a 7x7 square area. It can destroy crates, but are unable to stop enemy projectiles or movement.
- When used on Champions, it will instead spawn Champion counterparts of Frogs and Mummies.
- Transformed enemies have 5-8 HP, or 10-16 for Champions, and have 1 base damage per attack. They still have the other attributes from the respective enemy.
- While carried as an off-hand weapon, it instead spawns smaller tombstones, and only one at a time but with the same abilities.
Upon hitting a suitable enemy, it may collect a soul from them. Gather enough souls will allow the weapon to perform a summoning ritual, spawning allied Mummies to assist the player.
- Up to 20 friendly Mummies can exist at once.
- Amount of allies is depended on number of souls collected.
Tips
Strategies
This weapon alone cannot deal any damage, nor does it work against bosses. Not too different from Death Note, its main use is to weaken nasty foes (like Big Skeleton, Flame Knight Captain and even the obelisks and headstones of Anubis, as well as Varkolyn Leader's Tentacles) so that they can be taken out quickly. It also has the advantage of preventing certain on-death effects, such as Spider's explosion and Slime's projectiles before they catch you off-guard.
The player can also give it to a follower, likely with Assassin's Doppelgänger skill, and let them do the dirty work of weakening enemies to alleviate the energy cost.
It is also a decent pick in The Origin, as the main threat is primarily constituted of extremely buffed common enemies meant for it to counter. While enemies with certain affixes cannot be transformed, there is an overabundance of methods to counter them anyway. Furthermore, since this weapon doesn't deal any damage but inflicts a universal effect, it doesn't require upgrades either, also allowing other weapons to function well in its presence. It arguably does the job better than Death Note, having a large area of effect able to take on many enemies at once.
Recommended Buffs
- Take an extra weapon into the fight- Since it can't work against bosses, the player most likely needs another weapon to help them.
- Immune to fire, decrease explosion damage, and increase fire damage to monsters- Reduces explosion damage caused by the spawned Frog.
- Enemies have a chance to drop energy orbs when defeated- Because this weapon activates on-kill effects it can be used to alleviate the high energy cost.
- Increase the number of bullets of shotguns- Adds 2 more projectiles each swing.
- Elemental bullets deal double damage on critical hit. Staff weapon deal higher damage- Champions can also be transformed into normal enemies.
Recommended Conditions
- Speed BoosterWeapon fire rate +100%, attack -50%- As it does no damage, it will only gain the benefit of transforming enemies faster. It also makes all enemies much easier to deal with as most melee weapons will take them down in a few hits.

Trivia
- This weapon was added in Update 2.2.5.
- Its function varies wildly from Anubis' attacks. When he's holding the staff, it shoots lasers, summons mummies directly, spawns stone structures, launches bullet storms, and throws energy projectiles at the player.
- With the release of Death Note and the "Enemies revive once" condition, it is revealed that Staff of Anubis actually kills an enemy instantly and spawns a weak mummy in place, which would account for the phenomenon below:
- Most on-death effects that occur as soon as an enemy is slain will trigger when they are transformed.
- The Get Energy Buff, Elf's Focus Fire skill and chance to heal on enemy death buffs can proc when the staff transforms an enemy.
- The revive condition will cause another copy of an enemy to spawn on transformation.
- Any effects with a delay, however, will not occur as Staff of Anubis removes the enemy's sprite before they can fire off.
- If all enemies in a room have been transformed with this weapon, the room barrier will open, even if there are still mummies roaming. This is because the habitants are flagged as "killed," such that the game will continue to process events of "all enemies killed." The same applies to Giant Crystal Crab/Giant Golden Crab's boss fights, where transforming a mine and killing the spawned mummy can cause the room barrier to open, allowing the player to leave with the boss chasing after them.
- If all minor enemies in The Origin were transformed by this weapon, any offensive buildings will not attack until the next wave spawns. The Mummies can still target and damage all buildings during this period, and the transformed enemies don't vanish when slain.
- When an enemy is killed by this weapon under the respawning condition, another unaffected copy would spawn.
- This technically means that this weapon and Death Note are the most damaging weapons in the entire game, as they actually are able to kill enemies in a single hit. This includes in The Origin where health of enemies scale up to five-digit numbers in later waves.
- Most on-death effects that occur as soon as an enemy is slain will trigger when they are transformed.
- In old versions, using this weapon on the Gold Mine, Crystal Mine, and the enemy Mad Scientist would transform them into invincible mummies which stay idle, and won't drop anything. This glitch has been fixed.
- If a turret was transformed, the room barrier will instantly open.
- Currently, trying this will cause the mines to break normally, dropping energy/coins as usual and spawning a mummy, but their sprites will not despawn.
- Enemies transformed into mummies in Multiplayer will still move, but they don't attack and are invincible.
- In Update 5.1.0 Staff of Anubis received a rework and a new sprite. Prior to that, it fired three projectiles in a wide cone in a similar fashion to Grand Wizard's Old Staff and had no additional abilities.
- As of this rework, Staff of Anubis no longer benefits from the damage increases of TenacityTenacityor Weapon Boost.
- As of this rework, Staff of Anubis no longer benefits from the damage increases of Tenacity
- The weapon's soul projectiles are recycled snowball sprites which are seen on various sources, such as Snowman Eagle.
