The Devil's Snare is one of the 5 potential bosses found in the Forest.
During the fight, the Devil's Snare remains stationary in the middle of the room.
Room
The room has only four stone blocks at equidistant positions at all four sides of the room. There is barely any other cover to hide from attacks.
There are also wooden boxes stacking up in the corners of the room.
Drops
- The boss chest may contain Cannibal Plant, the motif weapon of Devil's Snare.
- The boss itself may drop:
- Timber or various File:Plant Seed.png seeds.
- Rival cassette.
- Devil's Snare Skin Fragment - Elf's skin.
- Devil's Snare seed that can be planted in the Garden.
- It does not drop any Organic Matter despite being a plant.
Miscellaneous
- After half of its health is taken away, the plant will open, revealing a creature in the middle of it. The boss will also become more aggressive.
- The Snare pet shares the same sprite with the unknown creature, except the dying state since a pet cannot die.
- The Devil's Snare's hair is also animated like the rest of its body.
- Upon death, the creature inside and its tentacles will also die and quickly disappear, leaving only its giant flower behind.
Trivia
- Before Update 1.4.1, when the boss was defeated 2 portals opened. The right side leads to the Dungeon, whereas the left one leads to the Knight Kingdom.
- The attack where the boss places 3 green poison patches in the player's direction was removed. This was similar to the Varkolyn Leader, only he places 4 and they are purple ones.
- When first added, the pull attack can happen at any time during the entire battle.
- The Devil's Snare is one of the four immobile bosses in the entire game, alongside The Prehistoric Colossus, The Giant, & Golem - Ancestor's torso. The Christmas Treant is also immobile, but only before enraged phase.
- After Update 1.4.1, the Devil's Snare large cross-shaped bullets attack was replaced by the poison beam-like bullets.
- Before Update 1.2.3, the room had only four stone blocks at equidistant positions at all four sides of the room. After Update 1.2.3 was applied, they were removed, replaced with wood boxes at the corners of the map. The stone blocks were re-added in Update 1.3.0.
- There used to be a glitch that if a weapon can take this boss in one hit, like One Punch, the boss would still grow tentacles from the enraged transformation and they wouldn't go away even long after death.
- Before Update 1.7.5, there were trees near the mossy blocks.
- This boss appeared In The Origin (Legacy) via Summoner. However, since it's static, it would never appear from portals.
- The Devil's Snare seems to be based off the similarly named plant from Harry Potter.
- It could also be a reference to the real life plant Datura stramonium, a plant in the nightshade family also called Jimsonweed or Thorn Apple.
- It is very similar to an unnamed Boss in Dungeon of Weirdos, which is probably based on the Devil's Snare.
